The 1953 Kentucky Derby victor Dark Star served as the inspiration for this horse. Photographs of the period showed an elegant, stately and classy horse –traits echoed in the design. Created using blue-black automotive enamel paint and gold reflective mylar stars, the sleek design uses repetition for pattern and simplicity. Becky Faulconer has participated in numerous solo and group shows. In addition to her own artwork, she was a professor of Art Education at Asbury College and a docent at the University of Kentucky Art Museum.
